Sean Spowart, Broker/Owner
Sean graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He began his career in sales at Burroughs/Unisys Corporation in San Francisco selling large computer systems and was promoted to Account Manager and then Sales and Marketing Manager of the San Francisco Commercial Branch. He then expanded his knowledge in marketing management at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, responsible for Customer Marketing Management in the United States, and finally rounded out his corporate career as President and Chief Executive Officer at Westel Communications, Inc. in Monterey California. He was also elected to the Board of Directors at Westel Communications and the Board of Directors at CALTEL (The California Association of Telecommunication Companies). Sean then started his own business as an management and investment consultant.
"I began investing in real estate in 1972, encouraged by my father who was active in real estate and other equity investments. I continued investing in real estate and securities through my corporate career so it was natural for me to start my own investment company. It's something that I really enjoy. And with that experience came a certain amount of wisdom. I believe that balance is essential to a healthy life, both in investments and day to day living."
Sean earned his Real Estate Broker's License from the California Bureau of Real Estate in February of 1992 (BRE # 01128710), his Registered Investment Advisors License from the California Department of Business Oversight (# 136903) in February of 1994, and his Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society in 1983. Sean is currently a member of the National Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors and the Monterey County Association of Realtors.
Sean has been an active volunteer for Hospice of the Central Coast since 1992. He counsels groups, families and individuals on end-of-life transitions. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Beacon House (a non-profit drug and alcohol treatment center) and was Chairperson and President until March of 2018. He was also on the Board of Directors of The Housing Advocacy Council of Monterey County (a non-profit organization helping families in crisis) for over 8 years and Chairperson for 3 years from 2002 - 2005. He was a single parent for many years and raised a son and a daughter, now both successful in business management.
Sean played in the World Handball Championships in Dublin, Ireland in October of 2003 and was captain of the team that won the All Star Bocce Championships in Reno, Nevada in November of 2015. Sean is an active ballroom dancer and has been studying Spanish for over 30 years.
